Lifecycles - Helping butterflies survive
Did you know butterflies are the only insects with scaly wings? Each scale on a butterfly's wing is a single colour - either red, yellow, black or white. Other colours, including green and blue, are created by light refracting on the butterfly's wings?
This lesson explores the intricate balance of factors needed to ensure the continuation of a butterfly's life cycle. Pupils will begin to look at ways that human activity can make a difference to the survival of a species and be encouraged to create their own action plan.
