Companion animal science

Within England and Wales, millions of animals are intended as, or kept as pets. There are also a large number of dogs and horses that are worked and used for sport. Our companion animals department ensures that wherever possible, the RSPCA is underpinned by science, as well as experience and common sense.

Our companion animals team help the RSPCA to advise and assist all those with a responsibility for companion, working and sporting animals, from members of the public to industry and the government. We do this by identifying and promoting practical, evidence-based solutions to improve companion animal welfare.
